The current fixture list can be viewed here.
22nd April - This
Sunday is the Strathendrick Rugby Festival - This is a charity festival
and Strathendrick raise loads of money for 3 local charities throughout
the day and by "charging" each team to enter (this is taken care of by
the Club). There are games for all age groups with KO's
starting at 1pm. I would expect the day to go thro till about 5pm after
presentations of prizes, raffles etc etc. so come prepared with warm
clothes etc for between games and of course gumshields and water
bottles. Please be there for 1230 at the latest - Coaches please be there to register your team by 1215. Fo
anyone who doesn't know where Strathendrick is then they are in Fintry
- take the right hand fork at the end of the main street. We
have nothing the following week (the May bank Holiday) and then are at
GHA Tournament on the 9th and then Mull the weekend after. It is
unfortunate that the Mull date was changed and this may affect whether
you are going or not. If you are planning to go to Mull and haven't
already let me (Gordon Cribbes) know then please do so. 7th April
- Just to confirm that Mull have changed the weekend for their
tournament to the week before that on our fixture card so it is now the
weekend of the 15th May. Further details to follow but hopefully this
lets you start to make travel arrangements. 6th April - Hope everyone enjoying the hols...Next couple of weeks
18th April coaching at Viewfield start 11am
25th April - tournament at Strathendrick, Fintry time tbc 22nd March - Thanks for your support in running the sports relief mile yesterday and for your generous donations in our red bucket.
The total raised on the day was £247 with more to come in from you sponsor forms etc. so well done everyone for your efforts.
If
you hadn't got round to getting sponsors its not to late (form
attached) - raise some more for Sports Relief after running that mile
(it was actually 1.14 miles) yesterday.
You can either
hand me (Karen p5 coach) your money and forms next week at the GHK
tournament or follow the instructions on the form:
BY POST Just return this form with a cheque made payable to Sport Relief 2010 to: Sport Relief 2010, Ernst & Young, PO Box 51543, London SE1 2UG
IN PERSON Simply pay in your money at any bank, building society or Post Office. Please send your receipt with this form to the address above so we can still claim Gift Aid.
ONLINE Go to sportrelief.com/fundraisingmoney and remember to send the form to the address above so we can still claim Gift Aid.
Thanks. Firstly
well done to all the teams that took on Cumbernauld and Hamilton
yesterday. It was a really good day and everyone competed very hard.
Thanks also as always to everyone who contributed too and worked away
in the the kitchen and tuck shop. Your help and support is really
appreciated.
This weekend we are at the GHK Tournament at
Anniesland X (postcode G13 1PL and best to enter from Anniesland Road).
The tournament starts promptly at 1pm and as it will be busy with
parking etc I suggest we try and get there for about 20 past 12 giving
plenty time to register the teams and find the allocated pitches etc.
The format at all age groups is 2 mini leagues of 4 teams in each with
the winners of each playing in a "final" . There is a presentation of
prizes for everyone at about 4.15.
So prepare for a long afternoon. Gum Shield drink and warm/dry clothing between games. 17th March - 2 things happening this weekend: Firstly
we have home games v Hamilton and Cumbernauld with KO at 11.30 so
please meet at the normal time of 11am. As usual please remember gum
shield, water and warm change of clothes. We are looking for some
help with sandwiches and/or baking etc for the kitchen for afterwards
please. This is very much appreciated! Secondly this week,
after the games my joint P5 coach Karen Connell is organising a
fundraising Sport Relief Mile - 3 laps of the pitches for all players,
coaches and parents. Please click here
for a fundraising sponsor form if you would like to take part. Could be
quite a spectacle as I am also inviting the visiting teams to take part
so with a bit of luck we could have about 300 people doing this. Additional information can be found here. 10th March - Confirmation
of address for Falkirk on Sunday....The Rugby Club is beside Falkirk
Crematorium for anyone unfortunate enough to know where that is - Past
Falkirk Wheel, and The Mariner Centre, heading to Falkirk - Dorrator
Road is on the left just before you hit Rosebank roundabout which has a
large "Beefeater" type place at it. There is a distinctive copper
roofed pub on the corner of Dorrator Street. Go right to the bottom,
under the railway and the Club is on the right hand side.
Sunnyside, Dorrator Road, Camelon, Falkirk, FK2 7YW.
Kick
off is 1pm so try and be there ready to play at least 25 minutes
before. For those that want to meet at the Club and go in convoy then I
suggest that you leave by 12 noon latest. As usual remember gumshield, drink and warm clothing.
Next weekend the 21st we will have home games against Hamilton and Cumbernauld, 11.30 KO 5th March - Don't want to speak to soon but Spring may at last be in the air! Coaching
this weekend at Viewfield... yes outside!!. 11 am start. P5's were out
on Wed night and conditions were about perfect and the forecast is for
temperatures to barely touch freezing during the next couple of nights.
Remember gum shield, drink and wrap up warm. Unfortunatley
I have not been able to arrange a game this weekend but this allows us
1 good coaching session before games at Falkirk and then at home to
Cumbernauld and Hamilton the following weeks. Best laid plans ...check your inbox Saturday and Sunday am just in case we are under 6 inches of snow by Sunday We
have games scheduled for all teams next Sunday 14th March at Falkirk
with Kinross also attending. A slight oversight is that the 14th is
also Mothers Day and I,m not quite sure that Mum's will appreciate
standing watching rugby as their Mothers Day treat. Kick off is 1pm at
Falkirk....If you are unavailable can you please let your coach know
this weekend. many thanks 26th February - I'm sure it will come as no surprise to learn that we are on Plan B this weekend - so "indoor" coaching at http://www.soccerworlduk.com/wherearewe/ (Click on the link for directions or postcode is G33 3SE) If
you haven't been before it is very cold so wrap up as if outside and
remember drink and gumshield. Surface is soft 3G type astroturf and we
should have plenty of space as 3 pitches are booked. Wear trainers! No
boots! Need to be there ready to start at 10.30 and pitches booked for 1 hour. I
have been once and remember that parking can be very busy and you may
need to park outside the complex so I suggest that wherever possible
you try and car share. 21st February - Well
done everyone who came along to the Leaisure Centre this morning. Lots
of kids there and space was tight but hopefully we will get outdoors
again soon...starting next weekend
The calender indicates
coaching on the 28th however weather permitting GHK are going to come
along to Viewfield for games KO 11.30 so be there by about 11. I am
trying to get another team as well. Remember gum shield and drink.
Parents,
any help with sandwiches or baking etc for the kitchen will be greatly
appreciated. Hopefully weather will be better and I will update later
in the week. thanks 20th February - Sorry folks. All games off tomorrow but indoor coaching at Kirky Leisure from 12 till 1. 17th February - A
note to confirm games against GHK and Strathendrick this weekend - Be
there for about 11 for 11.30 KO and remember drinks, gumshield and warm
clothing for between/after games.
As there are 2 visiting teams
this weekend we would very much appreciate any donations of sandwiches,
baking etc for the kitchen.
We are scheduled to have coaching on
the 28th but as we have had very few games recently I am going to put a
note out to other teams to try and arrange a game somewhere. Will
advise.
Hopefully the weather "holds" for this weekend 11th February - This Sunday there is coaching at Viewfield for all those available and weather permitting starting at the usual time of 11am. I
am not around from midday tomorrow (going to see a Scotland victory in
Cardiff) so I am sending this note out by team with all the players
e-mail addresses for the respective coach to advise should the weather
change things. Only a light frost forecast for tonight through to
Sunday with decent temps during the day so hopefully things will be ok
but keep an eye on e-mail or phone the team coach if any doubt. Due to
the holiday a few people will be away including coaches but cause
opportunities have been scarce recently the guys that are available are
keen to get out if possible.
31st January - KO
time has been changed to 10am next Sunday at Glasgow Accies to try and
accomodate the boys from both clubs who are going to Murrayfield.
If
going direct then the pitches are at Anniesland Cross on Helensburgh
Road just beyone the entrance to GHK pitches. The postcode is G13 1RR.
Try and be there ready to warm up at 9.40 and remember drink and
gunshield. If leaving from Viewfield then suggest you aim to leave by
9.05 30th January - Alan
Glens is frozen and games are off...we have indoor training for all
teams at Kirkie Leisure between 12 & 1. Remember drink 27th January - Back
to some game time this weekend and I have been waiting for confirmation
from the opposition so apologies for this weekends instructions being
so late in the week. Anyway ........all teams away to Alan Glens this
weekend with 1pm kick off, bit later than we are used to but it will be
good to get playing again. Birkmyre are also invited. So aim to be at
Alan Glens (which is the pitches on the left hand side heading towards
Bishopbriggs Cross if you have travelled from Lenzie past the Eagle
Lodge) by 12.40 ready to warm up at the latest. Remember gum shield and
drink!
As I have already indicated we are at Glasgow Accies on
the 7th Feb and confirm a 11am kick off there. We are the only teams
invited and once again all age groups please. Will send out directions
next week. 24th January - Hope coaching sessions went well today. Matthew and I were sorry to miss it. Quick e-mail for 2 purposes: (1)
We are scheduled to play at Glasgow Accies on the 7th Feb which is the
same day as Scotland play France at Murryfield and whilst there is no
bus going from the Club I know that some of you may be going to the
game and may not be available to go to Accies and (2)
Some people are not getting e-mails despite my sent box showing the
mail has been sent so could you please reply to me indicating your
availability for the 7th (probably 11am KO) and this will also show me
who is / is not getting e-mails 20th January
- Delighted to see that Kirkie Leisure Centre has managed to re-open
the outdoor astroturf pitches so this weekends arrangements barring a
change in the weather is all teams at Kirkie Leisure, on the astroturf,
between 11am and 12noon - Trainers or mouldies only, no metal studs,
get well wrapped up and bring gum shield and a drink. 15th January
- The thaw is on however the astro turf are still out of use at present
so I am confirming that having discussed the situation with other
coaches we will use Plan B for this weekend Plan B is P5,6 & 7 all at indoor gym at Kirkie Leisure centre between 12 & 1. We
have the whole hall so hopefully not too tight a squeeze. We will mix
all the teams and play some games and fitness exercises to work off
some of the Xmas excess (that's just the coaches of course) Hopefully we will get outdoors next weekend 13th January - Firstly,
my apologies to anyone who didn't get e-mailed last weekends
cancellation. I sent the note at about 5 pm on Friday however I know at
least 2 people who didn't get this into their inbox until Sunday
evening. From now on I will cut the distribution list as I currently
send 2 e-mails to about 35 addresses each P3,4 & 5 together
followed by 6 & 7. I will send by team and see if this makes any
difference.
Anyway, weather improving but still no gurantee of outdoor astroturf being usable this weekend, however,
Plan
A is all teams at outdoor Astroturf at Kirkie Leisure from 11am till 12
but if this is no go and I will make a decision one way or another and
e-mail by tea time on Saturday,
Plan B is P2/3&4 at Ian
Nicolson indoor gym at Chryston between 9.30 and 10.15 with the rest,
P5/6&7 to the indoor gymhall at Kirkie Leisure between 12 and 1.
Will update later in the week. 8th January - Sorry Folks... Have
been unable to secure any indoor training facilities this weekend so
try and enjoy the extra week off whatever you can find to get up to in
these temperatures. Will be trying the same for next weekend and will
keep you posted 6th January - Hope
you all had a wonderful Xmas and New Year and I would like to say that
I was looking forward to seeing all the boys and girls again on Sunday,
however with all this global warming our return may be postponed a week
or two.
We have booked the astroturf at Kirkie Leisure centre
for the 4 weeks in January but they are covered in snow at the moment
and out of use. David MacKay is investigating the potential of an
indoor facility for this weekend and I will send an update as soon as I
have the info. 3rd December
- Still looking good for Sunday at C/nauld. Understand that Cambuslang
and Uddingston are both invited so hopefully get at least a couple of
games. P7's who are available come along as C/nauld have a 6/7 mix and I,m sure you will get a game.
Re
the party on 13th - Can you please advise your team coach on Sunday
whether your child/children are coming along. Coaches then please let
David know. Numbers need to be confirmed to the Bowling on Tuesday. 1st December - Things look a bit more promising regards getting some games this weekend. At least the rain has stopped. Plan
at the moment is all teams away to Cumbernauld for 1pm KO. Cambuslang
are also invited. Remember gumshield, drink and warm clothing for
between/after games. Cumbernauld actually play at Condorrat,
Chapelton Road, G67 4HA. If going direct or from Viewfield please aim
to arrive for 12.30. Leave from Viewfield 12.10 latest. Keep
an eye on the weather and your inbox for any changes please. If matches
are called off then we will try and do coaching at Viewfield and if
that is also unplayable then will try and secure the Leisure Centre.
A reminder that the Xmas party for all kids will be
at Kirkie 10 pen bowling on the 13th at 2pm - Coaching session planned
for the morning as usual. Will update later in the week. 27th November
- Despite the relative sunshine this morning the pitches have no chance
of being playable on Sunday so regretfully I have cancelled the matches. Coaching
will however go ahead on the outdoor astroturf pitches at Kirkie
Leisure Centre between 11 and 12. No aluminium studs please. Trainers
or moulded studs. Gum shield, drink and warm clothing as usual please. 26th November
-Firstly apologies for the late call off again last weekend and
especially to the one family (that I know of) that didn't get my
message and went all the way to Linlithgow Also apologies
for the late news this week...been hanging off waiting to see what the
weather is doing and things do a look a bit more hopeful just at the
moment of getting some action this weekend. A caveat to this is that
there are some drainage problems caused by building work in Myrtle Ave
which has water backing up onto pitch 2 and the training area so watch this space please! Anyhow if all goes according to plan we will have Allan Glens and Waysiders/Drumpellier visiting KO is 11.30 Both
Glens and WD's have P3 teams however Allan Glens may not have a P6
& P7 side but a mixed side who will play at P7 and WD's may also
have a mixed 4/5 plus mixed 6/7. So there may be a bit of sorting out
to do on the day and unfortunately not all teams may get games this
weekend and some may have to stick to a coaching session. Come prepared with water & gumshield as usual and warm clothes for between games. All help with catering is much appreciated. If
Plan B has to be implemented I will try and secure the outside "all
weather pitches" at the Leisuredrome in Kirkie for
coaching. Finally the Xmas outing to the 10 pin bowling in Kirkie is on Sunday 13th Dec at 2pm for all kids
Please continue to check for updates between now and Sunday thanks 21st November - Linlithgow Off! 20th November - info from Linlithgow. Suggest you all check e-mail on Sunday morning:
We
have our S1 and S2 playing tomorrow so pitches are playable. There will
be an inspection on Saturday and first thing Sunday morning at 8.30 so
will let you know as soon as I find out. Heres
hoping for a good couple of days to dry out all the pitches but it
looks as though we are ok to go if the weather holds out. 17th November
-This Sunday all teams are invited through to Linlithgow. The KO time
is 11am so those meeting and leaving from Viewfield then I suggest you
leave by 0945. Also taking part are Kinross and Portobello and I don't
believe we have played any of these teams before so this will be a new
experience. If going direct then the postcode is EH49 6DB. - Exit Junction 4 off M9 & take the A803 to Linlithgow - The A803 is Main Street which becomes Falkirk Road still on the A803. This will take you to a roundabout just before "The West Port Hotel". At the roundabout take the A706 Mains Road towards the golf course. Pass under the railway bridge and the pitches are on your right hand side. 3rd November - Sorry for the late cancellation of games last weekend. I hope that between the few of us we managed to contact everyone. This
weekend, weather permitting, we are confirmed for another away game
this time at GHK (Anniesland) for a 12.45 start for all teams. Only
Hillhead/Jordanhill invited as well so expect to finish games by 2pm
latest. Directions if going direct - postcode G13 1PL = Anniesland X
and access to ground is best made from Anniesland Road. If leaving from Viewfield then this will be at 12 noon latest. Make sure all boys & girls come prepared for the elements along with drink and gumshield as usual
The 15th is coaching at Viewfield. 1st November - Sorry for late notice but Rugby at Strathendrick has been called off this morning due to the bad weather. 27th October - A
reminder that this weekend all teams are at Strathendrick (Fintry) for
a 1pm KO. If going direct get yourself over the Campsies into Fintry
and at the end of the main street where the road forks, take the right
fork across the bridge and the pitches are on your left hand side. Try
and be there for about 12.30. If leaving from Viewfield then suggest
leave 12 noon at latest. Other teams invited are Hamilton, East
Kilbride and McLaren so potential for a bit of a long day. Make sure
all boys & girls come prepared for the elements along with drink
and gumshield as usual.
Looking ahead to the 8th we are
confirmed for another away game this time at GHK (Anniesland) for a
12.45 start for all teams. Only Hillhead/Jordanhill invited as well so
expect to finish games by 2pm latest. Directions if going direct -
postcode G13 1PL = Anniesland X and access to ground is best made from
Anniesland Road. 19th October - Well done everyone who played at Allan Glens and especially the P3's who did magnificent, winning their tournament.
This
weekend we are back at Viewfield with Glasgow Accies and
Hillhead/Jordanhill the visitors. There are games for all teams however
Hillhead/Jordanhill will not be bringing a P3 or a P6 side so games
against Accies only for these age groups.
Kick off is 11.30 so please meet at 11am.
As always donations for the kitchen will be greatly appreciated.
I
will not be around this weekend and won't be on e-mail from Thursday
night so any problems then please contact your team coach direct. 16th October
- Please find joining instructions for the Allan Glens tournament on
Sunday. Key points are times for P3, P5 & P6 is be there at 11.30
for a 12 start....P4 & P7 is be there at 12 for a 12.30 start.
Allen
Glens is the pitches on the left hand side as you approach
Bishopbriggs town centre from Kirkintilloch. PLease check out the
request for car parking arrangements in Stephens note below. Any problems or questions then let me know. 6th October - Confirmation
that the Allen Glens tournament kicks off at 12pm on the 18th for all
age groups P3 to P7, however the P3 games may be tag rugby and not
contact.
Suggest that everyone makes their own way across, to be there ready for 1130. If you need a lift then drop me an e-mail.
Have a good holiday weekend and see you on 18th 5th October - Good
to see all P3 to P6 up early on Sunday morning for coaching. There is
nothing on this coming weekend due to the school holidays however we
are back the following Sunday 18th at Allen Glens. I will confirm times
for this as soon as I get them, hopefully this week, however if you are
lucky enough to be going away and know that you will not be available
then please drop an e-mail to your coach and/or me. Re the
P7 tournament - Many thanks to everyone who helped. The response for
help to the kitchen was fantastic as it was by those who gave up their
time to support the event in other ways especially the girls working
the tuck shop all day. All in (kitchen, burgers & tuck shop) we
took in £576 which is about a £176 profit after costs of burgers,
medals etc etc. 30th September - Coaching
this Sunday at Viewfield for P3 to P6 between 9.30 and 10.30. Sorry
about the early start but this is needed as all hands are required for
the P7 tournament which kicks off at 12pm.
Can P7's please meet at Viewfield at 11.
The
tournament takes a bit of organising and there are many visiting mouths
to feed. Donations to the kitchen by way of sandwiches are very
gratefully received. Please hand in during the morning if you are able
to help.
Many thanks.
Looking ahead there is no coaching
on the 11th as this is start of half term week however we are invited
to the Allen Glens tournament on the 18th - times to be advised 24th September
- Well done to everyone who played at Hamilton last weekend. Very good
performances all round and I was especially pleased with the way the
P5's played. Great stuff! Having had such a good weekend
last weekend I almost regretfully remind you that this weekend is the
Sept hol weekend so there is no coaching or games. The following Sunday
4th Oct is the P7 tournament at Lenzie KO 12 noon and meet times for
the P7's will be mailed out next week for this. For the
rest of the teams on the 4th, we have decided that rather than
train at the leisuredrome where space can be a bit tight and the boys
& girl don't get muddy we will train at Viewfield, however because
all the coaches will be involved in setting up the P7 tournament the
coaching will be from 9.30 to 10.30 for this week
only. Hope this is ok with you all. Have a great weekend and see you on the 4th. 16th September - For
those of you going direct, Hamilton RFC is a tricky place to
find. The postcode is ML3 6PU and address is Bent Road. Google
maps show the location at the bottom of Bent Road towards Quarry Street
but the ground is actually at the other end of Bent Road towards the
B755.
I have mentioned before that I am a bit technically
challenged when it comes to this sort of thing however I have tested
this and it did work so if you cut and paste the link below from google
maps into your location bar then not only will you have directions for
Hamilton but most of the other teams we will play this season. If this
doesn't work then search by postcode on google map.
Once again
thanks for all the efforts last weekend and I can tell you that the
kitchen and tuck shop made a profit for mini funds in the region of
£160. Thanks to all who contributed and helped.
Finally, we have
been invited to Allen Glens tournament on Sunday 18th October which is
the second weekend of the school hols. Can you please let your team
coach know if your player is unable to attend 13th September - Well done to everyone today. Some great rugby played in fantastic conditions. Long may it continue.
Also thanks to everyone who contributed to the kitchen.
Next
week all teams are at Hamilton. The KO is 12pm so those that want to go
in convoy, be at Viewfield ready to leave at 11am. If you are going
direct then please let either me or any of the coaches know.
The following week is the September weekend so no rugby.
Thanks and well done today! 9th September
- First matches of the season coming up for P4 to P7 teams against West
& Falkirk this Sunday. KO is 11.30 but try and be there for 11
wrapped up and with gum shield and drink. Unfortunately neither West or Falkirk have a P3 team so it is coaching for you guys starting at 11.
On
match days car parking at the club can be difficult so if you are able
to park at Moss school or one of the streets adjacent to Viewfield
Ave then this may help our visitors when they arrive.
See you Sunday! 7th September - First the good news, - both Clubs have confirmed for an 11.30 KO on Sun. The bad - neither has a P3 team and Falkirk will have 4 & 5 if lucky other wise a 4/5 mix. Both are ok at 6 & 7 6th September - Last coaching session tomorrow before games against West & Falkirk for all teams on the 13th. Usual time tomorrow 11-12.30 and remember drinks and gum shields.
Games next week will be at home with an 11am meet for 11.30 KO which is a change from the original fixtures e-mail put out. 3rd September - First coaches meeting of the new season in clubhouse @ 8pm - please confirm to David Mackay that you can attend.
23rd August 2009 :-
P6's player of the week 23/08/09:

P6's - 23/08/09:
 16th August 2009 - New Season - First
coaching session of the 2009/2010 season at Viewfield. Mini Rugby has started back - Coaching and registration on Sunday - bring a friend!! Registration from 10:30am and Coaching starts at 11am - 12:30pm There is an excellent selection of second hand boots/trainers/astros and they will be set out again for people to browse etc Any boots for a £5 donation to Mini Funds Fees are the same as last year: £42 for the season for first Child and £36 for any other sibling.
Saturday 16th May 2009 - Annual
trip to Mull - pictures can be found in the link below. Thanks
to all who donated. Any further pictures to Gavin Bell
please.
